Ethylene glycol distearate (EGDS) is commonly used as a pearlescent agent, opacifier, and viscosity enhancer in various personal care products, including creams, lotions, shampoos, liquid soaps, and bath gels. It shows excellent compatibility with other surfactants, making it highly versatile and easy to incorporate into formulations containing anionic, cationic, or nonionic surfactants. Because the material is not water-soluble, it should be predispersed in a surfactant for cold processing. For emulsion systems, it must be incorporated into the oil phase. It also boosts viscosity, helping to stabilize the formulation by preventing separation and ensuring ingredients remain evenly distributed.

EGDS delivers a richer, more noticeable pearlescent shine than similar ingredients like ethylene glycol monostearate, giving products a more luxurious appearance.

Key features:

  • Provides superior opacifying performance and a bright white appearance, giving products a richer, more substantial look with a soft, velvety feel.
  • Helps create a uniform, stable, and lustrous pearlescent texture.
  • Exhibits excellent solubility and compatibility with a wide range of surfactants..
  • Gentle on the skin with no irritation.
