The material is a gentle ingredient commonly found in skincare and personal care products. It works as an emulsifier, helping oil and water mix together to create smooth, luxurious textures in products like lotions, creams, and serums. As a versatile emulsifier, it can be used independently or in combination with other emulsifiers, and it is recognized for its compatibility with a broad range of oils. In formulations it adds thickness by increasing the viscosity of the product formula, making your product look rich and creamy.
It also functions as a gentle cleanser, effectively removing dirt, oil, and impurities from the skin without causing irritation. Although not a powerful cleanser on its own, it enhances the overall cleansing effect when used alongside other ingredients. Among various ethoxylated cetearyl alcohols, it is the most effective foaming agent.
