Price is a key factor in every purchase, and raw materials used in personal care products are no exception. We encourage you to compare the prices of the same ingredient across different online sources. While the price of the same chemical can vary significantly, that doesn’t necessarily indicate a difference in quality. Some ingredients are supplied by only a limited number of manufacturers, so it’s possible that a component listed on multiple websites actually comes from the same batch. For instance, 1 kg of pro-vitamin B5 of identical quality can range in price from under €50 to around €150. Perhaps the expensive one comes in golden packaging. Either way, it’s up to you to decide where to purchase it.

You may think chemical raw materials are expensive, and they are, especially in small quantities. However, with just a few hundred grams, it is possible to prepare several liters of finished product. Even simple personal care products you use are often much more expensive because many of them contain 60%, 70%, or even more water. Various industrial cleaning products contain more than 90% water and often include very inexpensive yet highly effective surfactants. Almost all regular fabric softeners, regardless of the brand (excluding concentrated versions), contain around 95% water. Window cleaners and car drying aids may contain as little as 2% active substance, with the remainder consisting mainly of water and small amounts of solvents. I’ll let you calculate the real cost of those “magic” components, keeping in mind that 1000 liters of water cost only ca. €2.
